Biography

 

Elizaveta Don, née Ivanova, was born in Moscow into a musical family. She started to play the piano at the age of 4 at Yakov Flier Music School in Moscow with N. Dolenko and played her first concert when she was 5. Nowadays she is a prize-winner of 15 international piano competitions and has toured in 35 countries around the globe.

She graduated from Academic Music College of Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of O. Mechetina, Diploma with honor), and Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2011 (Diploma with honor), where she studied with Prof. Sergey Dorensky and his assistants Pavel Nersessian, Andrey Pisarev, and Nikolay Lugansky. In 2012 she moved to Hamburg, where she attended Master degree course and, later, Artist Diploma (Konzertexamen) in solo performance at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Prof. E. Koroliov.

Her extensive concert activity began in 2002, when she became a participant of programs and a scholarship holder of the V. Spivakov International Charity Foundation. Since that time Elizaveta has been performing all over Russia and abroad (among them are Australia, Argentina, Canada,  India, Japan, Thailand, USA, as well as many European countries). Elizaveta has performed on the stages of famous concert halls, such as: Great, Small and Rakhmaninov halls of Moscow Conservatory, Svetlanov and Chamber halls of Moscow International Performing Arts Centre, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall (Moscow), Great Hall of the Ukrainian State Philharmonic Society (Kyiv), Chamber Music Hall of Berlin Philharmonic, George Weston Recital Hall of the Toronto Centre for the Arts, Salle Cortot (Paris),  National Concert Hall (Dublin), Teatro Ristori (Verona), Laeiszhalle (Hamburg), and others. 

Elizaveta Ivanova is a prize winner of numerous international competitions: 1st prize and two Special Prizes at the“Piano Campus” International Piano Competition (Cergy-Pontoise, France, 2011), 1st Prize and Special Prize at the International Piano Competition “Città di Verona” (Verona, Italy, 2012), 2nd Prize and Special Prize at the “Blüthner “Golden Tone” Award” International Piano Competition (Vienna, Austria, 2013),1st Prize at the “Euregio Piano Award” International Piano competition (Geilenkirchen, Germany, 2015), and, recently, 1nd Prize and Special Prize at the "ClaviCologne" International Piano Competition (Cologne, Germany, 2017) and Main Prize and two Special Prizes at the T.Leschetizki Competition for Polish Music (Hamburg, Germany, 2017). She participated in master classes with many famous musicians, such as Fou T'song, Dmirty Bashkirov, Sergey Babayan, Emmanuel Ax, Andrea Bonatta, and others. 

In 2012 she also had the honor to present annual 'Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award' in the short movie with piano star Lang Lang. 

In 2012 her solo CD was released by 'Piano Campus' (France). 

She is a soloist of the Saint Petersburg Music House.

The pianist’s repertoire includes compositions since the English virginal music until contemporaneity. 

She is also a successful participant of chamber ensembles and collaborated with many famous musicians, among them are winner of XV Tchaikovsky International Competition Narek Hakhnazaryan (cello), winner of the Long-Thibaud Competition Aylen Pritchin (violin), winner of ECHO award Asya Fateyeva (saxophone), clarinet star Julian Milkis.

She also plays harpsichord and has a deep interest in the field of authentic interpretation.

 Since 2013 she works as an associate professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. 

Besides her musical activities, Elizaveta is very interested in fine arts. She also enjoys traveling, reading, and cooking. She speaks Russian, English, German, and Italian.
